Parris Island, SC 29 April 2010

Dear Bernie,

I want to thank you for the powerful message which you delivered here at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot on 27 April. Your inspirational message to the Marines and Sailors was effective and scored a bull’s eye in relation to the issues surrounding sexual assault and irresponsible drinking. Your willingness to share your personal life’s history makes it all the more meaningful.

I have received nothing but positive comments about the show. It touched our personnel and will go a long way in helping them make better choices.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr McGrenahan,

On behalf of the Sailors and civilians of the Naval Submarine Base New London community, I want to thank you personally for your outstanding and inspirational performance.

Too often, we listen to presentations that are”death by powerpoint” and the training, however important, never accomplishes the intended goal of actually educating Sailors on the dangers of Drugs and Alcohol. Your message, balanced with humor and personal experiences, captured the attention of all those in attendance and I truly believe you were able to connect and provide substantial impact to each one of their lives.

In my entire 25 year career, I cannot remember a more entertaining and informative “training experience”. Again, a big Navy thanks to you for sharing your experiences with us at the “Submarine Capital of the World”

Bernie,

Thank you very much for traveling to Vance AFB. Your message is on target for our young audience…we introduce Lieutenants and Airmen to our Air Force here at Vance and the message you provide is very important for them to hear. Hopefully everyone learned from your mistakes and will not put themselves or others in harm’s way. It takes a lot of guts to stand up in front of strangers and tell your story…but the happy ending and message is powerful.

We appreciate your support of the military, especially in time of war and call you a true patriot who loves his country and contrymen paying the price for his freedom. You are welcome back to Vance anytime.
