Dear Bernie,

For the 1,000 or so Wright Patterson Airmen, and civilians who showed, thanks for a job well done. Rarely can you find a talent such as yourself who can roll the realities of life into a positive message… one that is well received.

We on the Wright-Patt have had some hard times over the past few months as we’ve had four suicides (military and civilian) and several attempts. It is hard on those who are left behind… to try and sort through what we missed, or what we failed to provide.

I know yours is a job, which provides you food, but i can tell your message is from the heart, and hopefully will make a difference here!

You (as I said on the BLOG post) are a Great American. I thank you for your service, and a message to our airmen.

Hooah!

Sincerely,

JOHN L. HOFFMAN JR, CMSgt, USAF

Dear Mr. McGrenahan,

Thank you for coming to Sheppard AFB with the Happy Hour Comedy Tour May 6 – 7, 2009. Your message about alcohol awareness, drug abuse, sexual awareness and the troubles they bring was inspirational. You were able to effectively reach many airmen with a great message in a manner that makes the message real.

Feedback received at the ADAPT clinic has been overwhelmingly positive. The clients my ADAPT staff have worked with unanimously stated they felt you were telling their story or speaking right to them. For example, one airmen said he was struggling emotionally after his brother had committed suicide recently. He was grateful to hear that someone else understood what he was going through. Another said she was struggling with being an “alcoholic in recovery” and keeping it a secret. She was grateful for the timing of the show so she could get the support she needed.

Once again, thank you for your appearance and the encouragement you gave while at Sheppard. I highly recommend this program for other Air Force bases and look forward to working with you again in the future.

Sincerely,

James A. Stryd, Major, USAF

Dear Mr. McGrenahan,

We thoroughly enjoyed your presentation on April 20, 2009 at Anderson Hall, Laughlin Air Force Base, TX. Alcohol abuse and sexual assault are very serious matters but the style and substance of your performance were delightfully entertaining. Your humorous stories drew the audience in and held their attention. There was never a dull moment. By any measure, you are a very effective speaker and educator.

I would like to express my appreciation for your valuable contribution in helping make this year’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month Campaign a success. Again, thank you far a memorable presentation.

Sincerely,

Dear Bernie,

On behalf of the 23rd Wing, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for your valuable Happy Hour message. You reached out to our Airmen with your comedy message of personal responsibility and the dangers of alcoholism, sexual conduct and suicide in a way that will be everlasting for the 23rd Wing Airmen.

Your humor and sincerity touched our Airmen in ways that we could not have achieved with our standard Safety Day briefings. I have been told by many of those who attended that this was by far the best Safety Day briefing they have been to and will remember it always.

Again, thank you so much for your valuable contributions to the 23rd Wing’s kick-off to the 101 Critical Days of Summer. Your message has definitely made a difference in the lives of our Airmen.

Sincerely,

Bernie,

I would like to thank you for the outstanding presentations you recently delivered here at Beale AFB. Your talents are clearly put to good use, delivering a timely message in an engaging manner to men and women who have often become somewhat callus to hearing yet another lecture on how they should live their lives. Above all, I would like to thank you for spotlighting the connections that frequently exist between sexual assault and irresponsible alcohol consumption – a message that cannot be over emphasized. Although unquestionably targeted at adult audiences, I see your presentation as a viable addition to any comprehensive and well rounded Safety, Culture of Responsibilities Choices, or Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program. It was a pleasure to work with you, and I look forward to doing so again.

Wishing you all success in carrying your message forward,

Michael J. Stacy, Ph.D.

Dear Bernie,

Thank you for your outstanding presentation to the 437 Airlift Wing on alcohol awareness. Your alcohol awareness and sexual assault message balanced with the right amount of comedy immediately grabbed the attention of our Airmen and was right on target. Your style of training is exactly what our base needed. You made a direct connection with many of our Airmen and as a result saved many of them from potential jail time, DUI, removal from the military, or even death. We appreciate your support of the military and look forward to future visits.

Dear Mr. McGrenahan,

I want to thank you behalf of all the members of Team Andersen for your wonderful performance at our base on 15 Feb 08.  It was a perfect lead-in to our three day weekend, combining gut-busting comedy with a serious, heartfelt safety message about the potential perils associated with over-consumption of alcohol.  I received a lot of feedback from our young Airmen in the immediate aftermath of your performance telling me how much your message influenced them personally…mission accomplished in my book!  I hope you feel, as I do, that your trip to Guam was worth the time and effort.  Again, thank you for providing such a valuable and entertaining service to our young men and women who are answering their nation’s call so far away from the mainland.  Keep up the good work!  You are welcome on Guam any time.

Sincerely,

GREGORY M. CAIN, Colonel, USAF
