It was so wonderful to be at Peterson AFB yesterday. I had a great time with you all at the club and thank you for showing me so much love! Let’s do it again soon, what do you say? Peterson Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force base that shares an airfield with the adjacent Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. Developed as a World War II air support base for Camp Carson, the facility conducted Army Air Forces training and supported Cold War air defense centers at the nearby Ent Air Force Base, Chidlaw Building, and Cheyenne Mountain Complex. The base has been the location of the Air Force Space Command headquarters since 1987 and has had NORAD/NORTHCOM command center operations since the 2006 Cheyenne Mountain Realignment placed the nearby Cheyenne Mountain Complex centers on standby. a HUGE thank you to Dr Julie and SFC Cruz and colleagues for ALL of your efforts in hosting me and bringing my “Comedy With a Four Star Message” to Peterson.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I have sat through numerous mandatory training feeling frustrated hearing the same message over and over. I cannot thank you enough for putting this training into perspective for us. I know we all try to be resilient and there are so many mistakes we have made, but to hear your testimony and how your whole life had to fall before you before you realized what you were doing. It helps us see no matter who we are resiliency does not come easy. We are all susceptible to the pressures of our friends, life, family, jobs, etc. I know telling personal stories are difficult, but if we are not willing to share our stories and let others know anyone can remain resilient they have to just believe that the current situation they are in will soon pass. I know the Good Lord puts challenges in front of us all the time, but it is what we do with them that builds us into who we become. Thank you for spending the day with us and have a blessed day with your brother Shawn. You are a true inspiration.

Amazing, unexpected show. You killed it! Best training not only for the delivery but the full spectrum of emotion you brought to the audience. Never have I heard of such resilience and recovery as I have heard in your personal life. Here we wear our chosen uniform to protect the freedoms of this country. I reflected on what you had happen in your life and how you chose to take the right path after all the strife that could have broken a lesser man. It makes me proud to serve you.

I enlisted in the USAF in ’78, commissioned in ’87, retired 10 days before 9/11 (which brought me back to the fight in a different capacity). Now I’m an Army Civilian. In almost 37 years of service on 5 continents, I have never been a part of a better training program – mandatory or otherwise.
