Bernie,

I would like to take the chance to thank you personally for the powerful and inspirational performance that you gave during your visit here to Ft Leavenworth, Kansas. Your show the “Happy Hor Comedy Tour” was absolutely hands down and without a doubt the most humorously informative Army sponsored show I have ever had the privilege to attend. So many times as Soldiers we are ushered  into theaters and conference rooms for briefings covering Drug and Alcohol dependency that often times are nothing more than slide after slides of someone just trying to “check the box” for some mandatory Army training that almost never accomplished the intended goal of actually educating Soldiers on the dangers of Drugs and Alcohol. Because of this fact Soldiers many times come to these briefings unable to hear the planned message because the message is old and stale and it seems as though no one actually cares for them or the situation they may be experiencing. As I paused to look around the theater that you were giving your performance in I couldn’t help but notice that no one was playing with a cell phone, no was talking to a buddy and all eyes were on you. Your show was able to break down the stigma through comedy, personability and humility. The personal message that you shared with each and every one of us was loud and clear by all the Soldiers, Families and Civilians that attended alike. Again, from all the Soldiers here at Ft Leavenworth in the Battle Command Training Program, thank you so much for volunteering your personal time to share your incredibly touching story with all of us.

Sincerely,

1SG Kenneth Clayborn
